International Schools Consortium

International Schools Consortium (iSC) is a nonprofit organization that, since 1986, has offered excellent academic programs to meet the intellectual, physical, and emotional needs of students. iSC has six schools in China — in Chengdu, Qingdao, Wuhan, Wuxi, Tianjin, and Yantai — one school in the UAE, and helps to support various other educational initiatives globally. iSC is a multi-school program, enabling students and teachers to participate in system-wide programs where they can interact with others outside of their immediate school. Students compete in basketball, volleyball and soccer tournaments, as well as music and choral festivals, and Model United Nations (MUN) conventions.

From the beginning, my life has been centered on education and educators. I was born in South Dakota, but when I was three my family moved to Florida for my dad to accept a job teaching Science. In 4th grade my family returned to South Dakota for my dad to complete two higher degrees in Education. After three years, we returned to Florida, and it was there that I earned my degree and took my first teaching position at my former high school. Over the next 18 years, I not only taught Science, but also married and had three children. We’ve had numerous exchange students living in our home, exposing us to multiple cultures from various countries and preparing us for our eventual move to China. In 2016, we decided to come to China and I now teach Science to both middle and high school students. I’m glad that my family and I can be a part of such a culturally diverse learning community. I love spending time with my family, reading, and going to new places previously never seen or imagined by this South Dakota native.
