Highlights from the Start of the School Year

The first few weeks of the new school year have been led with energy, excitement, and a sense of renewal in our CDIS community. From the youngest learners in kindergarten ECC to our seniors, students have returned ready to begin the 2025-2026 school year. 

Welcoming New and Returning Students
This year, we are proud to welcome our returning families and many new students joining us! Open House, orientation events, buddy programs, and our New Student Transition Support Program for all new students from K-12 have created a smooth transition to support each student's social and emotional well-being as they grow holistically within our community, to equip students to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially at CDIS.

Engaged Learning from the Start
Classrooms are already sparking with activity as students are open to surprises in the new ways to engage in learning. In ECC and elementary, students dive into foundational skills through hands-on exploration. Middle school is taking on exciting projects that blend collaboration with critical thinking, such as mapping longitude and latitude in social studies, engaging in creative writing workshops in English class, and tackling geometry through IXL. In high school, students are diving deeper into advanced coursework in their AP courses.

Community Outside the Classroom
The first weeks have been rich with opportunities for students to connect through athletics, arts, and clubs. Fall sports have kicked off in secondary, with soccer for middle school and volleyball for high school this season. While the fine arts department is already preparing for band, choir and drama performances. The High Student Council and service groups are also meeting to plan activities to bring the community together throughout the year!

Ready for What's Next
CDIS's teachers and staff are committed to nurturing each child's growth through meaningful relationships and engaging lessons. We can't wait to see the projects students will create the performances they will stage, and the milestones they will reach. Embracing the willingness to learn and the spirit of curiosity, we inspire a genuine love for learning and character development, creating memories that shape our students' future. Together, we are writing a story of learning, joy, and community through our actions and words, as we speak life!
