Deck the Halls with Music!

December 19, 2025

Our halls were filled with music as both the Secondary and Elementary students performed their concerts! This year, our elementary students showcased their creative talents through various forms of sound, demonstrating their skills not only on new musical instruments but also through rap and choreographed dances. The elegance and refinement of the choir and band in the secondary performance brought a sense of solemnity to the audience as we let the songs of the season sink in.

One of my favorite parts about being a band director is seeing the growth in students from year to year and sometimes even week to week. The Beginning Band delivered a solid first performance, tackling two songs in 3/4 time, which is not always an easy task. The Middle School Band has such a well-rounded instrumentation, allowing each section to shine during the concert, including the six-member percussion section. The High School Band is the cherry on top, bringing good intonation, phrasing, and musicality, along with years of experience to their performance — music to my ears! And let's not forget YOU, the audience! You encourage us with your presence and applause. Thank you for another great concert. -Heather Hoekman, Band Director

This year's Christmas concert, as always, we prepared with great enthusiasm and effort. The students performed exceptionally well on stage, making the concert a complete success. Especially for the elementary choir members, despite having a limited number of participants and only one rehearsal per week, they still managed to deliver an outstanding performance of the challenging a cappella piece. I am so proud of our students! -Ms. Harmony Liu, Music Teacher

I am incredibly proud of the students’ performance this year. They remained calm and focused throughout the performance, clearly demonstrating the growth they have made in both their singing and expressive skills over the course of the semester. Their strong sense of teamwork was evident as they supported one another and performed with confidence and unity. I have also been impressed by their dedication to excellence, as many students have taken the initiative to practice techniques outside of class time to continue improving. Most importantly, they performed with joy, sharing their music with their parents in a meaningful and memorable way. I am excited to see how much more they will continue to grow next semester. -Ms. Tucker, Choir Director
