Learning Through Play: Early Childhood Education at CDIS

Early childhood education sets the foundation for lifelong learning. At Chengdu International School, our Early Childhood Center (ECC) champions this philosophy through an engaging, play-based learning approach. This innovative method not only captivates young learners but also nurtures their academic, social, and emotional growth. 

The Power of Play-Based Learning
Young children are always learning whether they are in the classroom, playing at home, or engaging with the world around them. Play-Based Learning is an educational philosophy that emphasizes the importance of play in a child's development. At CDIS, we believe that children learn best when they are actively engaged in their environment. Our specialized teachers go through rigorous training to make sure that they can fully utilize opportunities to use play to help students achieve high academic standards. By allowing students to explore, create, and interact with their peers, we foster a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. 

This week we were excited to welcome prospective parents to our ECC Demo Day and they had the opportunity to witness the learning first hand. Our ECC program provides enriching experiences that distinguish it from traditional educational settings. Through hands-on activities and interactive play, children develop critical thinking skills, creativity, and emotional resilience. This holistic approach lays the groundwork for our youngest learners to thrive in all aspects of their lives and is part of the CDIS ECC experience on a daily basis. 

New Experiences and Celebrations
During the Demo Day event, our CDIS ECC students were able to make new friends and join in an Easter Egg Hunt and had a visit from the Easter Bunny. It was a fun event filled with excitement as children eagerly searched for colorful eggs hidden around the soccer field. New experiences like the egg hunt, field trips, cultural activities, and celebrations help students to make connections and grow.
