Curriculum Nights for Parents at CDIS

September 05, 2025

CDIS held our first Curriculum Nights for elementary and secondary parents this month. These nights allowed parents to experience school from their child's perspective. Parents visited their students' classroom and met with teachers to better understand the curriculum and expectations for the year. They learned how teachers grade assignments, discovered new ways to partner with educators to support their children outside of school, and explored resources available to help parents in their child's learning.

CDIS teachers play a pivotal role in guiding students toward success.
•They set high expectations for academic performance and personal growth
•They foster a supportive and inclusive environment.
•They encourage open communication and provide regular feedback to help students reach their potential.

We believe that through collaboration with parents, together we can reinforce learning at home as we align expectations for parent partnership through:
•Canvas by checking assignments, grading, upcoming events, and encouraging based on the content area
•Classroom rules and standards
•Homework/support in IXL to practice skills
• Available resources

The event aimed to strengthen the relationships between teachers and parents, helping them gain a better understanding of each class. These relationships are essential for the academic success of our students. Parent involvement at CDIS contributes significantly to a child's achievements, social development, problem-solving skills, and fosters a lasting interest in learning. Thank you to all parents for partnering with us for your child's education!
