What Does Persistence Mean to You?

When something isn't working, how many times do you try before changing your approach?
"Usually has to be a lot of times, maybe like 3 or 4 times. Then I’ll look at what I'm doing and see what's wrong with it and see what could I change?" -Lewis 9th grade

What does it mean to not give up?
"I think it means if it’s too hard you still keep trying until you get it. Don't let other people do your thinking for you." -Kesia, 2nd grade

What do you do when something is hard?
"When something is hard, I can calm down." -Jihua, Kindergarten

Persistence can show up in many ways for students. When students cultivate persistence, they learn to keep pushing forward despite setbacks and embrace failures as valuable learning experiences. The resilience that builds in result enhances their problem-solving skills and encourages a growth mindset. We hope this quality of life, persistence empowers students to reach their goals, build confidence, and develop a lifelong commitment to learning.
