Hilarious Hit Middle School Drama: The Day the Internet Died

November 28, 2025

Take a look at the production highlights! and photos from the performance!

The Day the Internet Died! This play took us to a world that feels both familiar and strange — a world where one morning, the Internet suddenly disappears. What would we do without our phones, social media, or streaming? For these students, that question sparked some fascinating (and hilarious) conversations as we prepared for the play.

During rehearsals, we talked about life before smartphones — when people actually called each other on landlines, visited the library to look things up, and even mailed letters at the post office! Watching the students wrap their minds around these “ancient” ideas led to plenty of laughter and discovery. It reminded us all how much our world has changed.

As always, this production represents the culmination of a semester’s work by our middle school drama students. For many of them, this is their first time performing on stage before a live audience. That’s a big moment, full of both excitement and nerves! Through this quirky comedy, they’ve learned to take creative risks, work as a team, and use humor to tell a story that’s surprisingly thought-provoking.

The Day the Internet Died is fun, exaggerated, and full of energy — and our young actors bring it to life with their own style. I hope the audience laughed, cheered, and enjoyed seeing how these students have transformed their classroom lessons into a full stage production. Most of all, I hope they left with a smile — and maybe even a little more appreciation for both our digital connections and our real-life ones!
