Student Led Conferences

November 07, 2025

Last week, we held our student-led conferences for students in grades 1 through 12 and home visits for ECC. During conferences, students advocate for their learning. They practiced presenting their progress and areas for improvement to their parents, which helped them gain a deeper insight into their educational journeys.

Our teachers visited the homes of early learners to engage with families and understand how learning is supported at home.

We hope that parents will be more aware of where their students are, academically, character, and socially. We want to bridge that gap in student led conferences. Students lead in sharing with their parents how they are doing. For parents to see their children taking ownership of their learning. They gain a deeper understanding of the current situation and how parents can support them at home. -Mr. Burkett

For me, the goal of student led conferences is always to be able to connect with parents. and to hear students share their own growth and learning. Also, the chance to talk to parents and hear their perspective. That's always been a very beneficial point of connection, both for me as a teacher and for parents, who can come and have a moment to talk to teachers, and always been a very beneficial point of connection, both for me as a teacher and for parents being able to come and just have a moment to talk to teachers, but also to engage together in the growth and development of these students. -Mr. Kullmann

Hi. My name is Hambee, and I'm a Senior in CDIS this year. I honestly wasn't that nervous because I knew my teacher and had seen her for years. I want to focus more on my AP work and also on the SATs. Preparing for the conference, I was able to assess my progress. During the conference itself, I explained to my parents what I had planned for myself.

All students at CDIS are pursuing growth through personalized learning plans. We hope parents have gained valuable insights that help them better understand and support their students' unique needs, personalities, strengths, and challenges.
